Dealing With The Summer Slowdown
The other morning I woke up feeling like a total POS. A worthless lump of a person who offers nothing to my marriage, friendships, students and career in general. A complete failure who wasted their life and is just riding out the days now.
The kicker being I just got news the day before that someone I coached for a film role got an offer on that part. On top of that, I had recently got a big audition from an office I have been trying to get into for years.
The success that was real didn’t match what I was feeling.
I bring this up because we all feel like this sometimes and you’re not alone because you do. Especially during the Summer Slowdowns. You gotta feel the feelings as they come and do your best to work through them and not let them consume you and sabotage yourself.
It’s times like these to lean into your community. Whether that’s a class, your friends, family, writing partners…anyone you feel close to and who fills you up instead of takes away.
Being a Creative isn’t an easy life and there are huge ups and downs that we all experience. You’re not alone and you never have to be.
