Audition Techniques is a weekly virtual audition technique class that gives you the opportunity to train and hone your auditioning skills.
Class is held over Zoom, giving you experience and confidence in today’s new normal of virtual auditions and self tapes.
You’ll get John’s unique framework to breaking down the scene so you can bring more depth to your auditions and your unique take to the character. Just like an Eco-Cast Live session, you’ll have the opportunity to perform as if you were auditioning for casting, and then get redirects and coaching in a small group setting.
Flexibility for the Auditioning Actor
• Have an audition? Bring it with you as your sides for the week and tape it live in class with John’s coaching and expert feedback! Not only will you feel more confident with your auditions but casting and your reps will also love the self tapes you submit.
• John will provide tailored-to-you sides each week based on the character types you play intrinsically – because that’s the stuff you’ll book on TV.
• Signed up for the Wednesday class but your audition is due by Tuesday? No problem! While you’ll be signed up for your preferred session (Mondays or Wednesdays) you have the freedom to come to whichever class works best for you that week.
Track Your Progress, Hone Your Skills.
• Just like a regular gym routine, think of each class as a weekly strength training session uniquely designed to help you build your auditioning muscle.
• Get that “in-the-room” feedback you’ve been missing and also get a take-home recording of your read to see your development week to week.
• All done in an inclusive, supportive, and FUN environment. While John is based in Los Angeles, class is held online so actors from anywhere in the world are welcome!
About John M Keating
John has been helping actors find the joy in acting for over a decade.
He’s coached thousands of actors on co-star, guest star, and series regular roles for both comedic and dramatic projects. Additionally, he spent 10 years collaborating with casting director G. Charles Wright – giving him the unique advantage of building his coaching practice alongside a casting director.
John knows what casting expects, and is an expert at helping you bring that to each tape.
He also has a really great knack for helping actors transition from one medium to another – whether it be from musical theatre, stand-up, improv, or sketch – and into acting for TV and film. He’ll help you bring your most authentic self to every audition, especially the ones that aren’t an immediate fit for you.
A Champion of Actors
As a writer, coach, and fellow working actor, John consistently keeps his finger on the pulse of our ever-changing and adapting industry. He understands exactly where you are –because he’s right there with you.
It’s this unique ability to give his students real-time experience and expertise from both sides of the table that makes his classes and coaching so much more than just another audition technique class.
John is dedicated to providing an inclusive space for all actors and doesn’t believe in keeping you confined in an “actor box” of what you can and can’t play. Instead, he’s all about helping you bring yourself and your personality to the role – while still serving the scene and the character.
His Work As a Performer
As a Boston native, John began his work as a nationally touring comedian – sharing stages with acts like “Weird” Al Yankovic, George Carlin, and Barenaked Ladies.
You can catch him on your television in guest star roles on CRIMINAL MINDS, THE MIDDLE, ANGER MANAGEMENT, and DIARY OF A FUTURE PRESIDENT.
He also co-wrote and starred in the film THE CONCESSIONAIRES MUST DIE! (featuring Dan Lauria and the late Stan Lee). The film was a featured selection at the Palm Springs International Film Festival and is currently available on iTunes and Amazon.
John is represented by Joe Florance and Circle of 10 Talent, and you can check out more of his work on IMDb.
